Prior to filing yet another plunder charge against former President Arroyo—this time in connection with the Malampaya funds—the tireless Justice Secretary de Lima last week exhorted the troops in a Mass at the NBI thusly: “Here we are again in another act of faith and courage. Let us keep the faith!” ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ For once the lady was right. The latest plunder charge sheet is truly a work of faith—not facts, not logic, not even the law—but faith in the ability of her boss to again fool the people through the time-tested stratagem of the Big Lie. Because Mrs Arroyo was added to the list of accused literally overnight, and obviously upon Aquino’s orders, I will credit him squarely with its authorship. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ There are many things wrong with the PNoy charge sheet, but I will obey my editor and stick to just three issues.
