Privacy and confidentiality laws prevent me from disclosing names....so I wont. But I want to tell of Mr. Amazing....age 92. I deliver a meal to his residence about 9:15am Monday-Friday. Each morning I tap on the door, coming on in....as he has asked. Good morning Mr. ____. Setting his meal on the kitchen table. Good morning Michelle. With his eyesight failing.....his wife gone for ten years now.......He has made his bed, showered and dressed in work clothes, been to the garden/yard and is back in when I arrive. 9:15am. Every morning. On Mondays I am scheduled home services for Mr. Amazing. One hour. His yearly cleaning undone. Whatnots and corners collecting dust. His daily, dishes, the main areas he takes care of well. I asked his permission and my boss for some extra time at his home. For the previous 6 wks I have conquered one room/item at a time. Mr. Amazing has worked along side of me. Keeping in mind he cannot see well. Reminding him of times when help wasnt needed and he and his wife managed it all. He uses his basement....mows his yard....tends to his garden...goes to church. And every morning as I leave.... Have a good day Mr. ____. Ill do my best. He says in a voice that pours sincerity. A confidence that he will. Today....I, doing the extra in the kitchen....he wanted to know if he could make brownies. Sure. I had to show him the lines on the measuring cup. He asked that I whip them. He finished the rest. When I finished cleaning today...he cut me a brownie...one for him. To celebrate....our work. We sat at the kitchen table. I dont know that I have enjoyed a brownie like this one. Ill do my best. His best inspires me.
