Private James Frazerplayed by John Laurie, 1897-1980 James Frazer is Walmington-on-Seas undertaker. He is of Scottish origin (born on the Isle of Barra, a wild and lonely place). He has a very pessimistic view on the world and makes sure everybody knows it. He will criticize Captain Mainwaring whenever he has the opportunity, as he thinks he would do a far better job running the platoon himself. Captain Mainwaring is very suspicious of him. For instance, he suspects him of being a communist because he never plays monopoly with the others! However, in times of crisis, James Frazer can always be depended on.
