Pro-coup news anchors were in disbelief as reports came in that few Egyptians were taking part in the elections. As reports came in suggesting that there was little enthusiasm for the elections amongst the general public, the anchors were shocked at the effectives of the boycott organised by the Egyptian anti-coup protestors. Both in Egypt and those in the diaspora called on Egyptians to boycott the Presidential elections, which Sisi is expected to win.
