Pro-fracking Coalition set to approve £80m plan to drill - TopicsExpress

Pro-fracking Coalition set to approve £80m plan to drill boreholes around UK in effort to convince a sceptical public that fracking is safe. This adds to the hundreds of millions already approved in tax reliefs. Given the vast amount of international evidence that fracking is inherently unsafe, devastates large swathes of the countryside and, by releasing methane, has a major impact on climate change, its the Tory & LibDem frackers in Downing Street we need to get rid of. The absence of a Labour voice in this piece could be down to the Guardian; however, the Labour leadership undoubtedly needs to recognise the strength of public opposition to fracking and adopt a policy of either an outright ban or an immediate moratorium pending an independent public inquiry into safety. Meanwhile, the millions being doled out to frackers should be diverted to developing renewable energy.
