Pro-growth and pro-job policies be encouraged : Maulana Fazalur Rahman PRESS RELESE ISLAMABAD: June 12, 2013: Maulana Fazalur Rahman, the Chief of JUI, has said that the present budget has been prepared by the bureaucracy as such the new government needs to make economic reforms in accordance with the need of hour. In a statement issued here by his spokesperson, Jan Achakzai, he welcomed the announcement of the government to removed circular debt but added it should be done in a way that it does not create inflation and widen deficit. He said that we need to announce medium and long term measures as well in order to resolve energy crisis. He suggested that solar energy should be tapped in as such government should establish subsided factories for solar panels in cooperation with private investers. He also criticised WAPDA for claiming it will start Basha Dam as it has $9 billion dollars saying we should not mislead people by such catchy announcement. "Yes we need dams but we need to raise resources as everybody know WAPDA does not have huge resources at this juncture". He said that instead of abolishing subsidies, they should be made rationalised and also targeted at the poorer sections of the society so as to check inflation. He said that tax net should be increased but it should not be made a burden on common men and middle class. He welcomed increase in the salaries of the salaried people but added that there is no immediate relief for the ordinary people. He said that economic revival is necessary but we also need to focus on job creations. "Delinking job creation form economic revival policies mean we only copying western recession busting policies which failed to revive their own economies and recession has simply entrenched for the last 5/6 years destroying world economic recovery prospects", he added. He said that in order to encourage private investment and foreign direct investment (FDI) we need to creat right environment by ending terrorism and improving law and order situation in the country. He also said that austerity measures and cutting deficit should not mean halting the overall engine of the economy. " Emphasis should be laid on pro growth and pro job policies as austerity doctrine of EU and US policy elite against recession has intellectually collapsed hence we need to learn lessons".
