Probably the most important adjustment that everybody gets in the Shala (KPJAYI) is the drop backs and attempting to catch the ankles and eventually walking up the legs. Sharath says No catching, no Samadhi! This is very difficult to do when you practice by yourself even for the most experienced practitioners... Most people cant catch their legs on their own... usually the help of a friend, a colleague or a teacher is needed...for this reason alone its nice to have self practice groups. Here is Charles helping Pavithra in Chakra Bandhasana in a temporary self-practice group. Contributing each others practice, progress, and yoga is something that would improve our own yogic level in all dimensions. All spiritual and religious scriptures emphasize the importance and beauty of heart to heart human interactions. Its important to remember that we are meant to discover and improve Yamas and Niyamas (the two limbs of Ashtanga Yoga regarding ethics of yoga) through these interactions. We are a community that breaths together, sweats together, and learns together... Helping, understanding, and supportig a friend is far more valuable than any advanced posture or series... Rumi says Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.. Chakra Bandhasana is a deep heart-opener that breaks our inner barriers and its easier to break these barriers with the help of a friend, a colleague, or a teacher... Thats why its such such a bonding moment in a practitioners practice to receive this adjustment... Charles and Deniz
