Problems With The New Age No. 0: It Was Successful. The concept - TopicsExpress

Problems With The New Age No. 0: It Was Successful. The concept that now, this time in history, is some kind of special New Age has been phenomenally successful, especially so outside of the New Age community itself! The idea that the old rules do not apply was the driver behind Obamas election and the widespread adoption of social media to give just two very basic examples. The fear that many people now experience about world events is made worse by the lingering expectation that things were meant to be different this time. The reality however is that many of the old rules arent going away anytime soon, and in many cases (though not all) this is exactly as it should be for when improvements and progress are imposed then the people always suffer. For example, many parts of Europe are teetering on the verge of some kind of revolution due to the ongoing fall out from the 2008 Financial Crisis - but we ought to look further back for the financial crisis itself was the result of politicians, bankers, consumers and borrowers all swallowing the false belief that the rules of life had somehow changed. They had not - what is gained must be shared and what is borrowed must be repaid - these things have forever been true and cannot be subverted successfully for any sustained period of time. The irony of the New Age is that it is almost inevitably now going to result in the re-assertion of traditional values. If this sounds old-paradigm, unconscious, and a bit reactionary then it only serves to demonstrate how far from reality we have travelled, and how much of a correction we are going to have to endure. Progress and improvements proceed only at the pace of the slowest and for the most conscious, most aware and most progressive to insist that people get on board with their ideas is simply old paradigm dictatorship, and it will not work.
