This is usually 220 - Sulphur Dioxide. Asthmatics are best to avoid 220. It can be fatal to an asthmatic. 220 has been known to cause such reaction as an upset stomach, nausea, skin irritations, hay fever, swelling, anaphylaxis, diarrhoea & may be a neurotoxicity. This food additive is also PIFFI. 320 - This is the food additive that grabbed my attention all those years ago when Kade (my asthmatic middle child) was chewing on a biscuit with this added. 320 is usually added to vegetable oils. It has been known to cause asthma, skin irritations, headaches, DNA damage, insomnia, fatigue & PIFFI. It was banned in Japan in 1958. It is a suspected carcinogen and accumulates in body fat.
