Our client contributes novel and ground-breaking materials, composites, devices, techniques and processes for industries including automotive, aerospace, health, energy, and the built environment. Its world-class materials science and manufacturing professionals also play a significant role in in the scientific and technological foundations for alternative energy security in South Africa, while assisting the South African manufacturing industry to be globally competitive in micro-manufacturing. They focus on research and development in fields such as sonar, acoustics, solid-state actuation, and electro-optical technologies and applications. Activities span the full cycle of innovation from strategic basic research through to industrialisation and technology transfer to industry. Projects are performed for both internal and external clients and collaborative research is conducted with higher education institutes. There is a need for a Production Specialist Mechanical to work with the R&D teams across all areas of activity for 6 (six) months. Qualification, skills and experience required for this position are: • A minimum N4 technical qualification. • Preferably five years working experience in a mechanical parts assembly environment. • Able to work in a closely knit team. • HisHer skills must demonstrate a thorough understanding of small engineering/fine motor skills. • Work in a multidisciplinary environment with clients, engineers, scientist, project managers and technicians. Responsibilities The person performing the job is responsible for the following daily activities: • The execution of intricate production processes used for piezo ceramic transducer production. • Perform specialised chemical and mechanical cleaning processes. • Perform specialised adhesive bonding processes. • Perform in process quality control activities on the production items. • Participate in the development of new processes used for piezo transducer production.
