Professionals and Families - We have received approval to begin redeploying Soldiers from Liberia. This means some of our Soldiers will re-deploy to Fort Hood and Fort Carson at the beginning of January. Redeploying Soldiers have already been identified by their chain of command. If your Soldier is scheduled to redeploy he or she already knows and can relay that information to you. Not all of our Soldiers will redeploy in January. Remaining Soldiers will provide the ability to react if conditions worsen in Liberia or elsewhere in the region. An assessment of our progress against Ebola will be completed in mid- January. Afterwards, a decision is expected whether or not to continue drawing down forces. Our Soldiers are making a huge impact here in Liberia. In September, there were 50-60 confirmed Ebola cases each day. Today, there are only five confirmed cases per day. Despite these positive signs, our mission is not yet finished. We still continue to build facilities which are critical to sustaining the momentum against Ebola. We will keep your Soldiers informed and provide the most accurate information available to the rear detachments and families. Thank you, LTC Mike Baker
