Park Day TBA 12/6 Winter Ball 6-8pm Family Faith Church Project Sunshine is a not-for-profit organization that provides free social, educational, and recreational programs to families of children with special needs. Project Sunshine is based in New York (projectsunshine.org). Volunteers donate their time to improving the lives of the children and families we serve. Throughout the semester, we will host numerous activities for the Project Sunshine children, their siblings and parents. Project Sunshine and its volunteers work towards the goal of bringing smiles and joy to the children of Walker County and its surrounding areas. We offer a Buddy Program which will partner your child and a college volunteer. This Buddy Program is extended to siblings as well. We realize the stress a family can be under, and it is our goal to help relieve you of that stress, even if it’s just for a little while. Project Sunshine at Sam Houston State University Box 2476 Huntsville TX 77341 Special Events We celebrate various holidays with fun parties; and we also put on other activities- bowling, Park Days twice a month, and so much more! Our events are completely free to the parents and children, offering food and tons of fun! Buddy Program The Buddy Program provides a free mentoring partnership between a Project Sunshine university student member and a child with special needs in the Huntsville area. Challenger Sports We construct and participate in sport oriented events, such as our Sunshine Softball League, which are full of fun games and activities for your children! Volunteers also help out with local parent support groups and other community sponsored events. An additional mentoring partnership program between a P.S. university student member and a student with special needs in the Huntsville area. b. The P.S. member is to attend P.S. functions with their buddy and actively initiate activities and meetings with the student outside of the university c. The program requires that the student initiate and maintain contact with their buddy throughout each semester indicated.
