In an upcoming webinar, conservation professionals and landowners will learn how Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) conservation practices and enhancements can provide high-value production and biodiversity benefits while at the same time aiding producers in obtaining or maintaining their USDA organic status. The webinar is being presented by with funding through an NRCS national conservation innovation grant project. About the Presenters: Harriet Behar, an Organic Specialist with the Midwest Organic and Sustainable Education Service (MOSES), has more than 15 years’ experience as an organic inspector of crops, livestock, and processing facilities in addition to more than 30 years of experience in the growing and marketing of organic crops, vegetables, and livestock products. She and her husband have a biodynamic farm near Gays Mills, Wisconsin. Jo Ann Baumgartner is director of the Wild Farm Alliance. She works on conservation, food safety, and organic issues and is co-editor of Farming and the Fate of Wild Nature. Before joining WFA in 2001, she addressed sustainable dairy, produce, and fiber-production topics, was senior research editor for Life on the Edge, a book of California’s rare wildlife species, and was an organic farmer for over a decade. Since 1976, the National Center for Appropriate Technology (NCAT) has been helping people by championing small-scale, local and sustainable solutions to reduce poverty, promote healthy communities and protect natural resources.
