Prosecution For the Defense 7-26-2013 Juror B29, identifying herself as Maddie, has stated that she is tormented by the “not guilty” verdict the jury reached in the Zimmerman trial. Maddy clearly verbalized that Zimmerman got away with murder. Although she originally thought that he was guilty of murder in the 2nd degree, she relented to the pressure from the other jurors and thought she was following the law as she understood it. But another important piece of information was put on the table during today’s show, Democracy Now with Amy Goodman. Amy’s guest was Seema Iyer, a lawyer, who said that the prosecution made a dreadful mistake in presenting videos of Zimmerman walking through the crime scene pronouncing his innocence and his act of self-defense. She made clear that this is never done where the prosecution presents evidence showing the accused pronouncing his innocence. Evidently, the defense would not be allowed to show this video, so why did the prosecution? By showing the video, the prosecution made it possible for Zimmerman to not have to testify in his own behalf and leave himself open to cross examination. There has been much talk about the poor job by the prosecution team, lawyers with, supposedly many year of experience. Let’s remember that the Sanford police did not arrest or charge Zimmerman until people took to the streets. Only then, was he arrested and a special prosecutor, Angela Corey, assigned to this case. Angela Corey is the same prosecutor who successfully prosecuted Melissa Alexander, a Black woman, who trying to protect herself from an abusive husband, fired a warning shot into the wall. No one was hurt but Ms. Corey got Ms. Alexander a 20 year jail sentence. This is the same prosecutor, who after the “not guilty” verdict of the Zimmerman trial acted more like a winner than a loser during her press conference. Call me a “conspiracy nut”, but I do not believe they wanted to convict Zimmerman. P.S. Zimmerman’s father is a retired Virginia supreme court justice. Is that worth anything?
