Protester Voices is a firsthand account of the Kanawha County (the home of Charleston, West Virginia) textbook controversy from the 1974-1975 period. Karl C. Priest, now a retired public school math teacher, was a young teacher at that time and participated in a leadership role with other public school teachers on the side of the Christian and traditionalist protesters. This controversy over the content of public school textbooks at the K-12 level took the USA both by surprise and storm and was a top media story all across the nation for part of two years.
