(Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. 1 Thessalonians 5:21) Many are speaking today about the false prophets that are all around us. To recognize false prophets we must heed the above verse and “prove all things.” One does not arrive at being an overcomer until he first learns the all important lesson of testing or “proving” the issues of this life. In the hour that we live there are so many things that are false and evil. We must be constantly on guard and “prove” or test things, lest we become ensnared by something that is wicked. Cults are spreading. Eastern idolatrous religions are creeping into our country in very subtle forms, and many Christians are being deceived and have accepted their practices without even being aware of their evil. Some religious groups have existed for years under the guise of Christianity, and yet are far from the teachings of Jesus Christ. The Lord warns us of these false teachers and tells us to beware of them. In the Bible it teaches, if we will get into those scriptures, read and study them, everything we need to identify just what a false prophet is there and to know the difference between what is sin and what is not. The Bible is Gods Law. It does not change for the times, it does not alter itself based on certain lifestyles that some wish to live just because they have unalienable rights according to the laws of man. All of what is sin is written in the Bible. So what does this wondering if someone is telling the gospel truth in their teachings and preachings offer us as believers. It offers us the chance to do our homework a little more thoroughly, to get into Gods Word, The Bible, and just like the scripture says, Prove all things, hold fast that which is good. Meaning exactly what it says; if we hear something from someone who says He speaks the truth, the Word of God, and it doesnt sound quite right, we should go to God in prayer and ask for guidance and understanding, then we need to find what the Bible has to say on the subject, that is where we make our stand, we hold fast to what is good. This will only make us stronger in our faith, the fact that we know exactly what God has directed us, because we know what it says in His Word and not what came out of the mouth of someone attempting to alter the Word to fit the day. There are also many out there today that are simply waiting on the sidelines, waiting and watching for ministers of Gods Word to make just any kind of mistake in their teachings. To slip up in something they say that they can twist into making that preacher look like He is a false prophet. They are quick to judge based upon what they themselves believe is the only gospel truth. They will attempt to guide you away, trying to makes us think that all who are out there doing Gods work are falsely speaking. There again the Bible not only teaches about how to identify a false prophet, it also teaches about who will be the Judge of us all and that Judge would only be Jesus Christ and not some self appointed man. It all goes back to reading the scriptures, knowing exactly what the Bible says and if we will do that and pray for any and all the answers to the problems we face in this world, we will know the way and instead of judging and condemning, maybe we will learn better how to show love for one another and pray that those we see living in sin will repent and they to may start to live according to Gods Word. It is plain and simple, Gods Word is the Law we as Christians should live by and it is our job as Christians to only lead others to the light, not to cast them further into darkness. Peace, CBW Matthew 7:15-23 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Proverbs 20:11 “Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right.” Matthew 12:33-35, “Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit. O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.”
