Proverbs 9:8,9 ... rebuke a wise man and he will love you. - TopicsExpress

Proverbs 9:8,9 ... rebuke a wise man and he will love you. Instruct a wise man and he will be wiser still; teach a wise man and he will be wiser still. A teachable heart is a priceless thing. God wants us to have a heart that is alert to his instruction, and often that instruction comes from peoples comments and actions. But this means that we do not know something or do not have adequate insight on something. This is humbling sometimes. Sometimes the source of this information is a person we do not like or respect, yet there is at least some truth to what he or she has said about us. But it is hard to hear and takes wisdom to respond correctly. In reality - because we are often hardheaded - the lessons we most need to learn come from the most undesirable sources, or in unpleasant ways. He has to shout at us since we did not hear his whispers. Is there a character lesson he is trying to teach you that you are resisting or ignoring? Are you being driven by fear or faith at work? Are you loving people or manipulating for your own gain? Are you working hard as unto the Lord, or grumbling about how you are being treated? Are you trusting God for advancement or impatient and frustrated? He allows irritation and injustice to teach us. Are we learning? O Lord, I am so proud and stubborn sometimes. Please mold my heart to learn quickly from you. Thank you for your love, patience, and commitment to grow me into the kind of person you can use.
