Psychometric testing in a multicultural and multilingual South - TopicsExpress

Psychometric testing in a multicultural and multilingual South Africa - In the multicultural and multilingual South African context where differences in socio-economic and educational background and opportunities of individuals further complicate psychological assessment, the measurement of learning potential provides additional information in the cognitive domain that has shown positive results. The LPCAT (Learning Potential Computerised Adaptive Test) is a dynamic (test-train-retest) instrument for the measurement of learning potential. It measures the existing reasoning ability (cognitive performance levels) of the individual as well as projected, presently non-developed, learning potential of the person based on non-verbal figural reasoning. The use of the Computerised Adaptive Technique implies that each individual is tested at the level of his / her performance as the test adapts to the performance level of the individual and selects items of suitable difficulty level to continuously match the estimated ability level of the examinee throughout the test session. Areas of application - This test can be used for selection and recruitment purposes as well as training and development.
