Public Statement South Sudan Democratic Movement (SSDM) South Sudan Defense Army (SSDA) Head Quarter August 2013-08-09 We have received from several media outlets recently, waves of news talking about peace talks between government and SSDM/A. Most of this news comes from People like Tut Galwak one of former rebel politicians of SSLM/A which surrendered and gave themselves up to the SPLA in May of this year, that was their own decisions and we have respected it. But Mr. Tut keeps making statements on press, for instance SSTV and Maraya FM saying that he has communications with Gen. David Yauyua the Chairman of South Sudan Democratic Movement (SSDM) and C.in.C of South Sudan Defence Army (SSDA) which is not true and baseless. We would like to say to Mr. Tut to refrain from such behavior of creating stories which is not there; this is inconvenient and harmful to your personality. Moreover, we have also surprised by a report of European Union Delegation issued in 7 August of current year when they mentioned that there is a recent contacts between Joshua Konyi the Commissioner of Pibor County and Gen. David Yauyau. We would like to confirm to the European Union Delegation to South Sudan and any person or organization concerned about security situations in South Sudan and Jonglie State in particular, that we never have any contacts with Joshua Konyi neither in the past nor in present. The contacts mentioned in his report between him and Yauyau only exists in his imagination not in real world we live in. Joshua Konyi or any government official from State level is an enemy to peace and stability in Jonglie State according to our point of view which is based on experience, earlier this year there was an attempt of assassination to our leadership planed by Kual Manyang former governor of Joglie State and Joshua Konyi himself, they hired some criminals and sent them into lines of our forces, our intelligent discovered them in last minutes. If this is the case, how on earth we could have a contact with such people? It is a desperate attempt from Joshua Konyi to block any efforts or chance of peace in region of Jonglie State. The chairman and C.in.C of SSDM/A Gen. David Yauyau Jankuch and all members of SSDA Cobra Faction are highly welcoming the European Union Delegation headed by Ambassador Sven Kühn von Burgsdorff and also heads of Diplomatic Corps in South Sudan that is accompanying EU delegation in their mission in Jonglie State. We would like to reiterate and confirms our commitments to the peaceful settlement to the conflict in Jonglie State through open negotiation table and peaceful political process which will bring true peace, reconciliation, sustainable development and stability to the our people in the region of Jonglie State. This must be under the mediation of international community. And hereby we would like to ask the European Union to play the role of mediation between the government of Republic of South Sudan and SSDM/A, giving space in the room of negotiations to the other actors of international organizations like, HD Center, UN and local religious leaders. We ask international community and humanitarian organization to play their role in Pibor County especially in these rainy seasons in providing assistance to the vulnerable civilians and to protect them from the brutality of government security elements in Pibor County. SPLA in Pibor County are committing many horrible crimes violating the basics human rights of people in Pibor County, men, women, children subjected to torture, rape, killing, shooting and destroying of properties. Our vision as SSDM/A is to see Just, Developed, Prosperous South Sudan. Capable to protect, respect the human rights and the rule of law. Work to eliminate the act of tribalism, nepotism and social bad habits. Pursue to maintain strong well-trained, disciplined and organized forces competent to safeguard internal security and protects the sovereignty of South Sudan. Col.
