Public meeting in Bromyard last evening to discuss the planning application for a new Tesco store. It was well attended with a lively and interesting debate. My concern remains one of sustainability for these market towns. It is clear that the large super market chains have a long term devastating impact on these vulnerable communities and end up creating hollowed out town centres. The demise of local government does not help to drive planning for sustainability. Good to see the Co-op Group well represented and the Green Party. Perhaps local politics is really changing.
