Punish firmly and chastise soundly, then repression of crime - TopicsExpress

Punish firmly and chastise soundly, then repression of crime becomes and example. But punishment except for crime will turn the complainer into an enemy. Very sound advice indeed! As a matter of fact, this wisdom actually applies perfectly to the situation presently going on in Ferguson, and heres how it applies... The first sentence is directed at the justice system and how they should handle the dirty cop in this case. What he did was commit murder, and he needs to be punished and chastised firmly and soundly for that crime. The Criminal Justice System needs to make an example out of him so that other cops will know that this type of behavior will not be tolerated. Set the example by holding him accountable, and others will learn from this and follow the law... The next sentence concerns the family, protestors, and the African community at large. We are complaining about the injustice of one of our people being punished or murdered by a police officer without ever committing a crime. If we dont get justice from our complaints, then we will become your enemy. We will do whatever it takes to make it known that we are dissatisfied with your decision. Thats pretty valuable advice, especially considering it was written over 2,500 years before the birth of Christ by an ancient African named Ptahhotep! :) Who said the ancients dont speak to us? ;) ~ Omar
