Puppy Axel Update: Let me start by saying Im sorry if I havent gotten back to anyone that has sent messages. It is not my intention to ignore messages, but things are a little crazy and on top of trying to make my deadline, things with Axel have just messed with everyones spirits at home. I had to sit my girls down (9, 6 and 3) and explain to them the harsh reality that our brand new fur baby just might be too sick to pull through. It is impossible to explain how hard it is to tell three children that have never experiance this that something they love might not make it. Were trying so hard to keep the faith that he will turn the corner and pull through, but its just so hard. I just got off the phone with the emergency hospital and hes doing okay. Early last night they had thought he was starting to climb towards improvement--he was eating without being forced to eat and seemed to really want to eat. His temp had stabilized and he was in good spirits. They made the decision to give him a blood transfusion last night when they were unable to regulate his red and white blood counts. Right now there really isnt much improvent there, but were hoping that because of the transfusion things will pick up. This morning he stopped eating again and stopped having the desire to eat. Theyve had to start feeling him through a syringe again, but the good news is that his blood sugar is at 100 for the first time. He also had a very drastic drop in body temp so theyre having to keep warming bags on him. Its basically like one step forward and ten back. We still have no idea what is causing him to be so sick. Theyve run test after test and right now the only thing we can do is to keep praying he pulls through. I cant thank you enough for all of the posivite comments. I hope that we have some good news soon.
