Puppy classes I have had few dogs in the past, they have just slotted into my life without any special training, somehow all were house trained, came when called, basically were lovely dogs. After 12 year break I have got a puppy and thanks to internet and the time I have now Id love to train him to be as smart as he can be, despite his dilly owner. So positive training puppy classes, great idea, arent they. On arrival, there is no parking for any of us so total chaos around the church hall where the classes are being held. Meeting a baby class coming out and more manic before making it in to the hall. Eventually 20+ puppies, owners and lookers on and the trainers (3) are ready to start. More barking, yapping, trying to sniff everybody and the trainers trying to make themselves heard above the ding. Come on, lets walk to heel, sit, wait, down, leave........what else was it again? After an hour, I have a headache, my puppy has barked himself hoarse, sniffed everybody he could get close enough, tried to play, took very little notice of my efforts, everything else was SO much more fascinating. On departure half the puppies pooped right outside immediately, my guess from stress or excitement. Did I learn anything new? Thanks to internet, I already knew all that. Did the puppy learn anything? Maybe to realize how many dogs there are in this world? Will I go back? Yes, maybe couple of times to allow my puppy to learn new situations. But oh my, the stress!!!!! The noise.......the chaos...... In the middle of it all couple a beautifully serene and perfectly behaved puppies. So it must work. Now for a serene owner....
