Q - Tito, sino po ang nagdala sa inyo sa Jesus-centered faith? Pano po kayo nakakilala sa Panginoon? Ano po ang brief outline ng inyong spiritual/religious history? A - Nagkaron ako ng first spiritual experience and rebirth sa isang retreat organized by a campus ministry in UP Los Baños in 1973. Thereabouts, my sisters who lived in Pasay began attending the IEMELIF church. When I moved to work in Manila, I first attended the Union Church of Manila. But since most members there and then were foreign nationals who were in the Philippines only temporarily, I thought I would be unable to make lifelong friedndships there. So I joined my sisters at IEMELIF Pasay. There I was baptized by Pastor Cenon Camacho. At IEMELIF Pasay, I served as sunday school teacher and director of various musical, theatrical and cultural events. (I loved this, my first and only church membership after the RCC and before Day By Day.) Sadly, while I was on a prolonged trip in Europe in 1979 or 1982 ( I forgot which trip), some kind of split happened at IEMELIF Pasay, with my relatives leaving and ending up in a newly-organized congregation. When I returned from Europe, I learned about the split. Though I took a neutral stand in the issues that caused the division, I attended the new group just because many of my relatives were there. I never became a formal member of it this new group, though. That I discovered when I asked why my name was not included in the list of celebrants greeted by the new church in its newsletter. I was told that I was not an official member. I was not even aware that I HAD to be an official member. So I was, technically, churchless. In that state, I went to Saudi Arabia for what was meant to be a short, flavor-of-the-month work. I started a small Bible study group there, unaware of what was ahead. That group started to grow and it was the beginning of what was to be Day By Day Christian Ministries.
