Q: 2100 I put a Question to the Minister of Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation regarding Funds for Rajiv Awas Yojana; about progress in terms of performance in construction of houses and rehabilitation of slum dwellers under the Rajiv Awas Yojana (RAY) in last 4 years and the amount of funds earmarked/ sanctioned/released for the purpose in the Eleventh and Twelfth Five Year Plan, State-wise. HON. MINISTER’S ANSWER: Under RAY total 225 projects and Dwelling Units (DUs) were sanctioned by the Central Govt in last three years and current year. Total 22,190 DUs are under construction. In Gujarat total 18 projects and 15,944 DUs were sanctioned and 2,300 DUs are under construction, while in Jharkhand 5 projects and 4,319 DUs were sanctioned. The central government Sanctioned Rs 4689.15 crore and Released Rs1659.18 crore in RAY during Eleventh and Twelfth Five Year Plan. Of which Rs 391.58 crore were sanctioned and Rs127.84 crore were released as the central government’s share in the project, while the same were at Rs107.32 crore and 41.18 crore. The government had sanctioned 18 projects and 20,472 under affordable Housing Projects for Construction of Houses and Rehabilitation of Slum dwellers, of which 7 projects and 13,704 DUs were in Gujarat. Currently 25,200 Dwelling Units, including 13,704 DUs in Gujarat, are under various stages of Completion. In AHP the government sanctioned Rs112.53 crore and released Rs 44.19 crore in 11th and 12th plan period. Of this, Rs 105.27 crore was sanctioned and Rs 41.94 crore was released in Gujarat. Under RAY, GoI provides financial assistance to states and progress under scheme depends on willingness and availability of financial resources with the states, therefore specific targets are not set.
