Q: Is it possible to reverse karma? Since we reap what we sow, if we see the error of our ways, can we duck the effects? A: When the causes change, so do the effects. We don’t duck them, or game the system, as much as we transform the experience of them. If we’re operating out of fear, we tend to generate fearful circumstances, for the purpose of coming to understand how powerfully creative we are. Likewise, love begets love, for the same overall purpose that we recognize our ability to frame our own destinies. We’re not punished for the one and rewarded for the other, but simply reminded—literally, re-*minded*, as in made aware that in using the mind, we are participating in the ongoing act of creation. If it weren’t possible for us to change course, none of us would have...but we did. Think of the times when we’ve been going down the road of resentment, only to U-turn into forgiveness, and a friendship was saved. It’s never too late to redirect spiritual law. All the effects of doing so may take time to appear in form, but they are immediately felt in interior awareness. At once, a great weight is lifted. An old, true adage says, “If we keep doing what we’ve always done, we’ll keep getting what we’ve always gotten.” As powerful, supremely capable creative beings, our role is to pay attention in both our sowing and reaping seasons. We assign effects to causes within ourselves—listening to deep guidance over transient ego, especially when those effects form undeniably repeated patterns. Putting new causes in play first makes us feel better. Then things *get* better.
