Q: Why do you say that the Prayer is a Missed Call to God? And how is it that only some peoples’ prayers are always answered while others are not so lucky? A: Prayer is indeed a Missed Call to God. Just give him a missed call and HE calls back. You don’t even have to spend on the outgoing call - such is HIS unconditional love for HIS children. But for the Missed call to get a call back or in other words for the prayer to be answered, there are two prerequisites. The first one is the type of relationship you have established with God. Suppose you are in an important Board meeting and suddenly your daughter gives you a missed call from her boarding school, what do you do? You excuse yourself and tell everybody that your daughter has called and that you have to speak to her. You - even in the middle of the meeting, call her back and after ascertaining that there is no emergency tell her that you will talk to her after the meeting. Such is the anxiety and response of a father to his child’s missed call. But suppose the missed call was from a selfish, opportunist, ungrateful business acquaintance who remembers you only in times of crisis - for selfish reasons only, what would be your reaction? You simply put the cell phone on silent mode and ignore his repeated missed calls. And if you bump into him after a month at the Airport, you ask him as to what was the matter and that you saw his 4-5 missed call last month. So, whether your prayer will be answered or not will depend on the type of relationship you have developed with God - whether your relationship with God is that of a father and a child or of a selfish, ungrateful business centric friend - looking up to God only for selfish reasons in times of need. ........... -via Speaking Tree
