Q: Without government, who will build the roads? ------------------------------- A: Governments dont build roads. They hire road building contractors. The real question is but without extortion who will pay the contractors. Thats a question that can be answered countless ways, with countless creative solutions. (e.g. crowd funding, private highways that pay for the cost by putting up gas stations along the way that charge higher gas prices.) There is a wide variety of ideas other than toll roads, which is how the companies that built the first highways in NH got paid back. I cant blame anyone for responding to the who will do it question with a moral argument. The question how can we end plantation slavery until we know who exactly will be picking cotton and how exactly it will be done?---its a douche-bag question, because you dont need to know all about the future to stop raping, robbing, enslaving, abducting, invading, bullying etc. Non-consensual relationships are immoral, and putting an end to them does not hinge on having all the answers about the how the market will respond to market demand. Of course the market, and innovation, will provide in unpredicted ways as it always does when there is need. Knowing exactly how the millions of innovators in the market will deliver solutions to consumers is really not the issue. The issue is that non-consensual interaction, slavery, is an immoral relationship so its pretty much a dick move--in response to a person of conscience pointing out that fact---to change the subject to how we would practically deal with every future problem, as if anyone knows or needs to know every detail of the future to object to non-consensual interactions.
