Q. on how to set up for chipping. Last night, I watched Phils Secrets of the short game DVD. There, Phil said that golfers should not do so-called cut shots. When wedges club face is open (relative to ball-target line) and stance is open, too, Phil said golfers should regrip to maintain the opened face angle. Then, he said that swing path should follow the ball-target line. Im puzzled, because, according to new ball-flight law, club face dictates ball flight direction, (85:15) Thus, once club face is open and swing path just follows the ball-target line, ball will fly to the right side of the target. Odd thing is that, when I practiced Phils method yesterday, he seems to be right. Balls tend to go straight to the hole, not to the right side of the hole. Puzzled.
