QIFF football 2013 has going to watch some tight clashes in the group stage on next days. There will be a battle of revenge between MAK Kozhikode and DIWA Kasargod and also tough game between KMCC Kannur and TDIA Thrissur in the friday evening of at Al-Arab stadium. DIWA has something to give back to MAK for their narrow lose in the last year tourney which showed them the way out of the tournament. This time also both teams clubbed together in same group and are in a tougher group than others of the tournament. All the teams of the ‘death group’ teams have same points and same goal difference; so it ensures some better football in the next days from this cluster. Defending champions MAK have to prove their quality despite a disappointing performance in the first match against NadhamThrissur. MAK has worries over the player’s injuries and also the lack of performance of key players and the shaky defense against a strong attack as in the last match.MAK will find their better goal scoring ability if their talented players rise to the occasion like Jawaid, last year player of the tournament, Helmi, Waseem and Abdul Rahman. In other end, DIWA is coming with full energy, boosted by the added-time equalizer that saved their first match against EDSO Ernakulum to secure a point. They have something to prove in QIFF football and were one of the luckless team to be included in the death groups always. Their attack is led by the fast and cunning Siyavudeen and has several stars like Shanavas, Rasheed , Faizal who played in the big bashes of Kasargod state football. KMCC Kannur has got a better start in the tournament, but will face again a Thrissur team who has blocked their way to the second round in last year. KMCC had a humiliating defeat in the previous year QIFF event against Sanskriti Thrissur and it crushed the confidence of the team to reach the quarter final. TDIA had a shocking defeat from the hands of FON Palakkad in the first match and they have a must win situation to ensure their further movement to the next rounds. TDIA have the big names like Vaishak, Kannan who played for QIFF XI last year and have a good aggressive unit. A united Kannur team will creates a good challenge to the attacking TDIA with their well-built defense with Mohd Basheer and Libu and the magical touches from the experienced Basheer and talented Hamza Hassan helps the strikers to pierce any defense. So the Al Arab stadium will have plenty of watchful moments to cheer up after the QSL game between Al Ahli and Al Rayyan.
