QURANIC STATEMENTS ABOUT JESUS DEATH (Part 1) Great Weekend to everyone, Today were considering an ayat in the Quran and tomorrow, if God permits, we will study another. God bless you all! Quran 3:55 (Sahih International) [Mention] when Allah said, O Jesus, indeed I WILL TAKE YOU and raise you to Myself and purify you from those who disbelieve and make those who follow you [in submission to Allah alone] superior to those who disbelieve until the Day of Resurrection. Then to Me is your return, and I will judge between you concerning that in which you used to differ. In the above verse we have the word mutawaffeeka, which is translated I will take you. Al-Syouty is a Muslim scholar who explained that, when Surah 3:55 refers to Jesus death, it means a real one. He said in his book Al-Itqan (The Perfection), part 1 page 116: Take you to me (mutawaffeeka) means put you to death. Ibn Kathir is another famous Islamic annotator. He wrote in his exegesis of the Quran (Tafsir Al Quran, volume 1 part 2, pages 27-28) that there are two views of Surah Al-Imran 3:55 amongst Muslim scholars. One of the two interpretations is Jesus died a physical death. Ibn Kathir said, Narrated Ali ibn Abi Talha, narrated Ibn Abbas: the meaning of take you to me (mutawaffeeka) is to let you die. He also said, Narrated Ibn Ishaq, narrated Wahb: Allah let him die for three hours and then raised him. Though we do not believe the Quran, yet Islamic scholars admit this verse refers to the physical death of Jesus. Hallelu Yahweh!
