Quality vs quantity. There was a day we were talking about kfc - TopicsExpress

Quality vs quantity. There was a day we were talking about kfc as why is it failing and the argument went to the point that they should reduce their prices by providing some foods that are of less quality and large quantity. So that people are more attracted to the place than they are. Affordability is the matter like what steers did. Anyway the story today is not about kfc. Today it is in the baking industry. There is bakers pride which has its shops selling bread and many other wheat flour related products. The main product in question here are their famous basic cup/queencakes. I started having them some years back and over the years the quality of the product has always been the same. Even after their factory burnt down some months ago, that has not compromised their quality. Let me take your eyes off bakers pride alittle and talk about their new competitor. Katswiri bakery, which is also providing the queen cakes. The only difference being that katswirs queen cakes used to taste better upon introduction but now the quality has gon worse. And i do not think their sales are the same. The main reason is that they wanted to maintain the same price even after the devaluation and keep the production cost costant. It was quite a plan but i dont think its working What bakers price did is they have the queencakes in 4 if not five sizes to meet the different target markets and segments. That right their is marketing. My question rather is that what should katswiri bakery do? Will the consumers get used to the low quality products and start buying again or they should step up their game?
