Question : Mufti Sb. I want to ask you a question that I planned to keep Beard in accordance with Sunnah, but now I am thinking that I would not be able to respect it and keep indulging in sins, therefore the respect of Sunnah, I am shaving, is it OK ? Please advice- Muslim Brother, Abu Dhabi Answer - Dear Brother. To respect Sunnah is good and praiseworthy, but for respect and sanctity indulgence in Sin is disallowed and prohibited. Next day, God forbid you will ask to me I am in Europe and being muslim my name is like a muslim, I have to drink wine with my non muslim friends so i could not respect my religion and name. I would like to change my name and religion just in front of them not inside ???? Would that be allowed. Certainly not... Remember keeping a one handed beard is Sunnah Muakkadah and nearest to Wajib, in about 70 Ahadis Holy Prophet ( Blessings on Him) commanded about it and in some He said that go against Infidels and Fire-Worshippers, they shave and you must not do that, it is Sunnah of all Prophets. In short brother, in modern days especially locally some say and misguide by saying that " Darhi me Islam nahi, Islam me Darhi hey " i.e. Keeping beard is not Islam, it is just a part of it ". Beware of such tactics. Being a Muslim we have to be devoted i every act and we are accountable for each deed. Although, this Sunnah is just a part of our Islam, but we are accountable for each action and violation of Farz, Wajib and Sunnah Muakkadah. Hope you have understood.
