Question about bedding.... I have a run-in in part of my barn...but I also have an overhang... Ive got sawdust/shavings in the barn, but Ive been putting out straw under the overhang as this seems to be where my horse likes to lay down. So my question is, as this straw seems to take quite a bit of peeing on and can be quite wet, (I clean out the wet stuff daily, but this is going to be expensive as its his favourite place to pee) what alternatives do I have. I am concerned about the weather making this into an ice rink...(okay, an ice rink with straw in it) and being very slippery. Thinking about building a wind break to help keep snow off it but that still wont stop it from freezing.... Any suggestions? In this picture you can see the overhang area.....
