Question for those more experienced with Donkey genetics.. About Wooly coats: 1) Can you get a wooly coated baby from 2 non-woolies? (I am assuming it is a recessive trait, but there are dilution factors as well, right?) 2) Isnt it rather difficult to tell a wooly donkey from a fluffy winter/spring picture? 3) Is wooly something that is noted on registration paperwork? I ask because we were looking into purchasing a herdsire that was listed as wooly, but the only pictures they had were early spring. I have heard some folks say that their wooly sheds out in the summer, but does that make them truly wooly? Thanks for your help! Ill put a picture of the one wed looked at online for your opinions of wooly/regular in the comment if you would feel like giving your opinion! FYI - this is more academic at this point, because he is already sold to someone else, but I was just trying to do some followup research.
