Quick ITG horn reviews (really brief here): I only had a few minutes to walk around the booths as my room was really busy for most of the show but here are some highlights: 1. Michael Del Quadros C trumpet... he will have to describe it more for you out there but I really enjoyed it immensely. Great fun to play and in tune! 2. Charliccio. Always fun to talk shop for a few minutes with the great Charley Davis. These are really nice horns! HG valves, Kanstul bell/pipe, assembled. Really sweet. 3. The Scodwell balanced would look great in my collection and played WONDERFULLY! Tony is one of the great cats in the biz and since he hipped me to Adams in 2009 I owe him so much! 4. The Schagerl Raven was a very cool design but honestly I was a bit disappointed in the playability. The Gansch horn is an amazing horn and I was hoping the Raven to rival it but for me it didnt come up to that standard. If I didnt play Adams horns I would be playing a Schagerl Gansch horn for sure. 5. Bachs new Commercial horn was really nice. I preferred the LB version with the non-rounded crook. Its so great to see the Bach guys digging into the vault and putting out new designs! 6. The new Yamaha Xeno I played of Eric Berlins was outstanding. One of the best Yamaha trumpets I have ever played and it was out of the box stock. Sweet sound, great intonation, everything youd want in a horn. 7. Ivan Hunters Quarter-tone C trumpet blew me away! IT was so much fun to play, had incredible ergonomics and ease in the design. I am a big fan of Ivans work and him in general as hes such a sweet, kind, warm guy! 8. I didnt get a chance to try the new Osmun trumpet (was VERY bummed I couldnt get back to the booth to try it) but I hope I can swing by their shop and play it. 9. The best non-Adams horn I tried at the show was Josh Landress newest trumpet he has made. It was the easiest, most responsive, and centered trumpet I might have played. It reminded me of a cross of a Besson and my old LB New York Bach that I should have never sold. In terms of Adams we put out a few new things as well, including an AMAZING short-stroke valve Piccolo Trumpet that blew me away. The valve design was unlike anything I have ever seen on a piston. Maybe they can make a Bb for me as the valves were not only super super fast but also there felt extremely smooth through the transitions in the airflow. We sold out of our brand new A4-LTs and people ordered more for future delivery (as I read my email from this morning). This is a sweet horn for sure. The new A1-LT was also a great hit... designed for a client who will be picking it up post ITG. The Newest Cs were received incredibly well too! As we had over 65 horns there there was a ton of goodies for people to play and check out. Sorry for the brevity of this note. Im probably forgetting a few things as well and will add-on to this! Now I will get to practicing (and posting some of the goodies that arrived to the shop soon). I am out of the shop this week but will be around for Skype lessons and consultations. Best, T
