Quinnlin and her People to People travel group did a service project over the last couple of weeks... because of our connection to all things kidneys we raised the idea of doing a project for kids on dialysis. There are currently 33 kids on dialysis in Atlanta at a center. The group provided fleece blankets of all sizes, decorations and candy bags. We were so touched...because the center isnt in Childrens anymore, so that means they dont have the usual support they might have like organizations dropping off goodies, celebrity visits and clowns making them laugh. Quinnlins fundraising is going awesome (she helped me babysit with her neice and she will tell you that is hard earned money!) and she is more than halfway there. Weve just made the last payment towards the trip (GULP!) and were about to order her items with sponors names on them... Thank you so much to Cheryl Crook Thompson, Cara Nocero, Ginny Burke Kilgore, Carol Kilgore and Karyn Waxmans daugther and sil, Erica and Matthew for their generous donations! Last week the kids all did presentations on different aspects of Alaska. Qs and her friends was on the Gold Rush. They will be panning for gold during their trip... and seeing the Iditarod farm, and a glacier and wow a bunch of things as they travel meeting people there. Shes super excited and a little nervous. Thanks again for your donations... (and if youd like to donate, link is in the comments). The picture of Quinnlin was about a week before her kidney transplant. She was 7 and nervous and we couldnt imagine that a healthy kidney would one day bring her to Alaska with the People to People Delegation! Were so proud of her. Thanks again Cheryl Thomas for that gift! She wouldnt have been able to make this trip on dialysis.
