Quite a few people have asked about my reference to needing some long pants in the coming weeks. With the lack of consistent visual effects work in southern CA, Ive taken a job in Buffalo, NY at a company called Empire Visual Effects. Upstate NY is offering very competitive tax breaks (35% in 2014 and 45% in 2015) so hopefully there will be plenty of work. It was a very difficult decision, there was also an offer in Montreal and I figured if heading back to the northeast for work I might as well be closer to my family. 15+ years is long time to be in southern CA, the longest Ive lived anywhere. Theres a lot to be thankful for these years, many, many great friends, All Spice Cafe becoming a reality and some great vfx shows over the years. Planning on driving back to NY on Sun or Mon before Thanksgiving, starting at Empire around Dec 1st.
