Quotation for the Day: Little by little Francis course of life, which was now spoiling his fathers dream for his promising son, led to a complete alienation of the father. The father in his wrath brought the case before the Bishop of Assisi. Before the father had a chance to present his proposal to disinherit his son, Francis took the action in a unique way. He suddenly appeared stark naked, with his clothes rolled up in a bundle, his purse of money attached. He put them down at his fathers feet and said: Hitherto I have called Pietro Bernadone father. Henceforth I shall only say Father who art in heaven. The father picked up the clothes and money. The Bishop, with tears in his eyes, threw a cape over Francis. A little later, clad in a mantle which the Bishop gave him, Francis went forth singing with a thrill of joy and with a soul full of peace. Some robbers threw him into a snow drift but nothing could interrupt the exuberance of his spirit. Rufus Jones The Luminous Trail, p. 69
