Quote from NYTimes: The Israeli military said the focus of its ground operations in Gaza is to destroy the labyrinth of tunnels from the strip into Israel that can be used for launching attacks. The Israeli military basically lies to give us a credible narrative. There is a technique called Sediment Tomography that maps the underground like a CT Scan. By measuring electric resistance It can tell the exact structure of sediments (including any tunnel) 50 meters beneath the ground. This page is from Tel Aviv Universitys department of Archaeology. It visualizes the underground features of an archaeological site so accurately that can detect the remaining of some ancient walls that are blended into the soil. archaeology.tau.ac.il/azekah/expedition/2-uncategorised/185-cont-52 Detecting an underground tunnel is much easier than detecting archaeological elements. Given the fact that this technology is old, it is very likely that Israeli military already has a real time monitoring system that monitors the underground the way their radars monitor the air. Clearly, the agenda of the Israeli military has nothing to do with tunnels, because detecting and destroying them does not technically need invasion. If they decide to destroy a tunnel they could easily pour cement into its opening (from the Israeli side).
