Quoting the email I received from the Party yesterday. RPECC encourages you to not support current city council President Kerry Kincaid in the upcoming spring election. Election day is April 1st . Ms. Kincaid has repeatedly proven herself to be firmly entrenched in far-left political policies and politics . Examples include: • Rushing to renew union-negotiated contracts after Governor Walkers Act 10 legislation was announced, but before it was signed into law. • Publicly denouncing Act 10 in a letter sent to Governor Walker during the protests. To date, Act 10 has saved Wisconsin taxpayers just shy of $2 billion. • As of 2013, long-term EC city debt is $2,108 per resident, an 87% increase from when Ms. Kincaid first joined city council in 2004. • During the recent city council president debate, Kincaid promoted putting debt on future generations as a way to fund the city. • S & P just decreased our citys bond rating from AA+ to AA-. • Property taxes have increased 6.1% since Kincaid first took office. • EC Median value home ($147,200) pays $2,616/year in property taxes, which is in the top 8% nationwide for rate of property taxation. • Ms. Kincaid, when challenged on high Eau Clair Property Taxes on WAYY, seemed ambivalent. • Ms. Kincaid is endorsed by the Progressive Majority Political Action Committee (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kerry_Kincaid ) • She is also a self professed Democratic party politician . • Check out Progressive Majority Political Action Committee and see if it aligns with your values: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Progressive_Majority • Kincaid is running her campaign out of the DEMOCRATIC HEADQUARTERS downtown and she uses their mailing permit. • Ms. Kincaid has been entrenched in local politics since 1992 and has zero business experience on her resume (according to wikipedia). • According to City Manager Russell Van Gompels December blog, the 2013 annual city budget was $132,000,000, which is $1,971 for every man, woman and child in the city. Do you think your tax dollars are being spent efficiently? • When citizens asked for a referendum vote on whether or not to use local property tax dollars to fund The Confluence project, Ms. Kincaids response was that those asking for the referendum are mean spirited. Perhaps she didnt know that any capital improvement for public schools that exceeds $1,000,000 is required by Wisconsin law to go for a vote before the people. • Follow someones money to learn where their heart is: In 2010 Kerry Kincaid gave $250 to Feingold Senate Committee city-data/elec2/10/elec-EAU-CLAIRE-WI-10.html In 2012 Ms. Kincaid gave $1,000 to President Obama, $1,250 to Kreitlow for Congress, $750 for Wall (Appleton Dem) for Congress and another $750 to Democratic Party activist groups. • Given her contribution history, Ms. Kincaid is clearly a hard core, partisan Democrat. campaignmoney/political/contributions/kerry-kincaid.asp?cycle=12 • The devil is in the details. When challenged on WAYY about The Scandinavian Import shop being booted out of its home of 43 years, her response was that the city should erect a Scandinavian Culture Center . • Ms. Kincaid clearly believes government is the answer . Ms. Kincaid has shown more concern regarding use of plastic bags, legality of backyard chickens, transforming our citys auto fleet to electric cars and implementing an intrusive local health bill than providing efficient, basic, city services, decreasing property taxes or stopping the accumulation of more debt. When challenged about debt in the city council president debate, Ms. Kincaid was clearly not worried. In fact, she said, we are not in a debt crisis. Perhaps we are not yet in a debt crisis, but we are on a trajectory to becoming Detroit; the debate is, will we change course before its too late? Given this denial of reality, well likely see more debt, higher taxes and more bloated city budgets with Ms. Kincaid at the helm. No doubt Ms. Kincaid has good intentions, but her remedies simply fuel the fire of our citys debt, taxation and excessive spending problems.
