R.I.P PATCHES 1998-2014 Patches, aka The worlds only living dead cat, passed away peacefully while sleeping on my chest ( lately his favorite place to be) Loved by many, scourge of bunnies, squirrels and birds, Patches live a very happy and carefree life in spite of his chronic illness.When he was 4 he became ill, and the vet said if I paid $1000 he could give him an experimental blood transfusion and he might live, I said no, and was told he wouldnt make it through the night.Twelve years later, he decided it was his time to move on to that great sandbox in the sky. The highlights of his life - he taught Allyson the origin of babies by being born in her lap, he taught me to always look in the toaster before using it - he cornered a mouse in ours and I cooked it accidentally, he taught Phoenix that if you hurt someone in fun, they will probably hurt you back ( gently, of course)He would attempt to kill anything moving outside and loved to hunt. I will always remember his sleek and powerful movements through the grass as he made his way across the yard, terrorizing all living creatures in his path. Yet, he cried and cried for me to remove the tiny field mouse who was sitting in his bowl eating his food one night. How I will miss his daily gifts let on the doorstep and occasionally on my bed!
