RAISED AS KINGS… *PASTOR CHRIS* THURSDAY,MARCH 13TH,2014. ...I was my father’s son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother. He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live (Proverbs 4:3-4). 2 Chronicles 1 tells us how the Lord appeared to Solomon on a certain night and said, “Ask for whatever you want.” Solomon, being smart, answered: “Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people: for who can judge this thy people, that is so great?” (2 Chronicles 1:10). How did Solomon know he should ask for wisdom, and not for anything else, such that even God made a wonderful remark about him? (Read 2 Chronicles 1:11-12). Solomon’s words in our opening verse give us an idea. Certainly, he wasn’t David’s only son, yet he said, “I was my father’s son.” This meant he was the “adopted son”; the one groomed for the throne. There was a special training David bequeathed to him, which the other sons didn’t have. In the Scriptures, being the “adopted son” doesn’t refer to fostering another person’s son as your son and getting all the legal documentations to that effect. Rather, it describes the situation in those days, where a monarch with several sons, chose which one of them would be his heir-apparent. He’d then give him (the chosen heir-apparent) to the governors, teachers or instructors to train in military service and in all kinds of discipline and learning, until he came to maturity. When he was trained and ready for office, he was brought back to the king as the “adopted son.” In the same way, not all who are born again have understood the leading of the Spirit and the life of dominion He’s brought us to. Many are yet to understand spiritual realities; so they’ve got to be properly taught and nurtured in Christ unto maturity. That’s the reason God “…gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints….Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ”(Ephesians 4:11-13). He wants every one of us to grow unto perfection; unto maturity in the things of the Spirit and live as His adopted sons—walking in the supernatural; winning and excelling every day in life. PRAYER: Dear Father, I thank you for instructing, directing, and training me for a life of victory and dominion over the elements of this world, and preparing me to be a steward of the powers of the age to come, in Jesus’ Name. Amen. FURTHER STUDY: Romans 8:19(CEV) In fact, all creation is eagerly waiting for God to show who his children are. Galatians 4:6-7(CEV) Now that we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts. And his Spirit tells us that God is our Father. 7 You are no longer slaves. You are Gods children, and you will be given what he has promised. Galatians 4:1-2(CEV) Children who are under age are no better off than slaves, even though everything their parents own will someday be theirs. 2 This is because children are placed in the care of guardians and teachers until the time their parents have set.
