[RANT] You know what really aggravates me about the music economy / structure? People are consistently finding more and more ways to weasel in to their own slice of the pie, adding more rungs to the ladder, so that most of us who arent either 1) Rich or 2) Blown up virally, get stuck consistently fighting our way up the ladder only to be basically in the same place. EXAMPLE: If Abducted Records had 13,000 fans on Facebook, and 10,000 followers on Soundcloud 3 years ago like we do now, we would be set. We would be making enough money from our share of the social market to push that money back into more ads to develop our following even further. We would have a desire to continue growth, as it would have the promise to be prosperous. Instead, now with our 13,000 followers, only an average of 5% is reached (650 per post) Which is LESS THAN the amount of people we reached 3 years ago when this stupid choke on reach was initiated for profit. So essentially, we have worked, paid for ads to grow our business, to be in a WORSE position then we were before. And this isnt just the case with Facebook, everyone is reaching out and taking their cut. How The hell are agencies / artists and the likes supposed to make a living when it is becoming increasingly more difficult to get any edge? Its absolutely infuriating. The over saturation of bullshit has allowed for this to happen by creating a demographic of people willing to pay for any hope of exposure, without keeping focus on the things that matter like content. So now instead of 1,000 people /companies / artists all pushing a general average of good music, we have 10,000+ people with about 90% of them who are just pushing any bullshit they come across, and paying for it, which are making the market more lucrative for people to coem in and take advantage of. I dont even know where i was going with this anymore, im just beyond frustrated at seeing so many people (myself included) being raped by the ever growing circle of people who are only out to line their pockets. I wish there was a solution, but as long as the vast majority of people in the industry continue to push sub par products, there will be people there to take their money. [/rant]
