RANT follows Just had a call from Georgina who said she was calling on behalf of the NHS pharmacy scheme. she understood that someone in my household had a repeat prescription and as such was entitled to have the prescription delivered free to the door which would save the NHS time and money. I asked how that could save time and money and she said that doctors didnt have time to see everyone regularly, so I replied that I didnt see the doctor just collected the prescrioption when notified by the chemists - I asked if she was part of the NHS and she said yes so I asked who paid her wages what company and she hung up. It has made me reallse that our NHS budget is being used to pay for private companies to take on a middle man role between us and the NHS - it doesnt save money - it will be costing money and it doesnt save the doctors or their staff any time or money either - it just saves the public a bit of leg work and creates a new layer of admin and cost. Realise that the Boots chemists service that I currently use whereby they text me when my prescription is ready will also be baing paid for by the NHS budget so I will be stopping that too. Its a bit like the government money - our taxes - that were being used to pay for low cost or free loft insulation and cavity wall insulation - where companies were touting for business then very often delivering a very low value service chucking rockwool into lofts in a few minutes over the top of anything already there and doing very poor quality cavity wall insulation. We the customers - so grateful for the free/cheap help dont query the quality, but in reality they were being paid top dollar for the service by our taxes and ALSO being paid to decide who got free or cheap work and whether it was of good qulaity. Would be interested to see what other waste their is...Oh yes and the training thing where companies are paid over £1k for every person they train (this can be a few hours) and get into work (this can be a single casual shift) by the tax payer...and others who are invited to decide that people need literacy training on top of what ever other training they are doing and deliver joke literacy training and get paid again.....`INSANE
