RASP SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION INFORMATION &CRITERIA Dear RASP Members, RASP is happy to announce that Megamart supermarket and other local business has accepted us to receive funds to provide scholarship to our RASPS students that are seeking monetary support to continue with their education for the 2014-2015 school year. 10 scholarships will be awarded during our upcoming VII-RASP Conference on December 20 and 21, 2014 The 2014-2015 scholarship Application is now available you can pick up a hard copy from a member of The Scholarship Committee at the address below or we can E-mail it to you with all supplemental materials needed attached. The Scholarship range from $2,000 to @1,000 each. The deadline to submit the RASP scholarship application is December 5, 2014. Incomplete applications will not be considered. All applicants must be attending an accredited college/university within the United States in order to receive the scholarship. To complete your application, you will need to meet the following: • RASP Criteria for Scholarship • COMMITMENT TO RASP AND ITS MISSION – Members interested in the RASP scholarship, must demonstrate a sincere desire to pursue a professional career and interest to fulfill RASP’s mission. - Resume -3 references letters - Be an active member of RASP - Demonstrate academic achievement - Essay - Financial need ( show copy of w2 forms for the last two years and paystubs Regional Alliance Of Students & Professionals ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT – There is a minimum of 3.0 grade point average to qualify for RASP scholarships. However, earning good grades is always important. Academic performance will play a role in deciding which students are awarded scholarships. FINANCIAL NEED – The economic status of a student’s household will be taken into consideration in making scholarship selections. RASPS Scholarship Review Process The Board of Directors will review scholarship applications. Weighing each of the above criteria equally, the committee will then select recipients of the RASP scholarships. Scholarship applicants must live in Washington, DC, Maryland or Virginia in order to qualified for this scholarship. Recipients will be notified on December 21 , 2014 during our dinner gala. SCHOLARSHIP REQUIERED MATERIAL • Materials that applicants for the scholarships must submit All materials should be attached to your application. 1. School Transcripts or GED Program transcript (if available), if you have attended more than one school, a transcript is required from each institution unless grades from the previous school (s) appear on the present transcript. 2. Résumés listing your educational background, work history, awards, internships, other scholarships, language proficiency and any work done for your school, RASP Chapter, or local community. KEEP RÉSUMÉS TO ONE PAGE! 3. Three reference letters from people who are familiar with your academic achievement, leadership, and commitment to one’s community. One recommendation letter must be from a college-level or High School teacher, second from your local church’s Minister and third from a person that knows you for at least two years. Letters should be addressed to the Scholarship Committee of RASP Each letter should be placed in a sealed envelope with the referrer’s signature across the closure and submitted with the application. Letters of recommendation must be from non-family members. Regional Alliance Of Students & Professionals 4. Essay. Please submit a typed, double-spaced not to exceed 500-word one of the following topics. A) Why are you interested in obtaining a professional career? B) What event, story, person, experience, etc., inspired you to want to pursue a professional career? C) What hardships or obstacles have you experienced while trying to realize your goal of obtaining a professional career? D) How are you planning to keep your religious believes while youre in school, knowing that you will be around people with difference life styles.
