RCC Beating the Holiday Blues Y-YULE log- Yule Tide Our YULE tide passion and spirit began- Yesterday. Unfortunately for many- it was not a day of celebration, but a day of sadness and loss. Has the world gone MAD? Where is the RESPECT for our MEN in BLUE- and all mankind? WHAT is HAPPENING? Has our Society lost its moral compass, and why has human life become expendable in the eyes of many? I have no answers and plan to use YULE time to focus on just that. As you light your Yule log (or watch it burn on TV) PRAY for peace and good fortune- THAT is what YULE tradition is all about. FINDING your inner PEACE. You see- The ceremonial Yule log was the highlight of the Winter Solstice (PAGAN festival- so they say), a long, long time ago. Anyway, in accordance to tradition, the log must either have been harvested from the householders land, or given as a gift... YOU did not buy it-it was the job of others (or the harvest) to wish you good fortune and happiness. Once in the fireplace the log was adorned in seasonal greenery, doused with cider or ale, and dusted with flour. A piece of last years log, (held onto for just this purpose) would be set ablaze and the YULETIDE would begin. Children would dance, food would be plenty and good luck anticipated for all! The log would burn throughout the night, then smolder for 12 day before being ceremonially extinguished. Yes- RCC readers, let go of the past and begin again!! A NEW YEAR is APPROACHING- Start it with FAITH and a SMILE. To BELIEVE in YOU- is the first step to a Happy Healthy NEW YEAR!!! XOXO -RG-
