RCC Foron Organizes Leadership Seminar for its Youth Bot Bulus Nyam The Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) Regional Church Council (RCC) Foron, recently held a one day leadership training seminar for its Youth Fellowship leaders at the RCC headquarters Foron. In his paper titled ‘The Road Map for a Growing Church’ Rev. Jonathan Nyam Dung, who is the Chairman of RCC Foron, reminded the youth on the ongoing reforms in COCIN as it concerns its new name and mandate towards efficient and effective evangelism. He identified vision, mission and values of any organisation as being strategic to its well being which must be communicated constantly to members, volunteers and stakeholders. Rev. Titus Gukwat in his paper presentation titled ‘The Importance of Unity in Church Leadership’ and ‘The Responsibility of a Leader’ saw the essentials in developing and encouraging team leadership at all levels of the church. According to Rev. Gukwat, responsible and true leaders are naturally afraid of such tasks because they are usually conscious of the implications. He then encouraged his audience that leaders of worth make service their watch word based on Biblical injunctions and doing otherwise is a serious hindrance to the unity of the church. Rev. Bulus Dung Gwom presented the youth paper titled ‘A Leader as a Model’ and examined Biblical characters such as Abraham, Moses, Joseph, Nehemiah, Paul among others with Jesus Christ as the true and perfect model of all leadership. While appreciating the programme the RCC Foron Youth Leader Emmanuel Gyang Adamu encouraged the frequency of such seminars not only to the youth but to all subgroups in the church. Responding on behalf of the Zalli community, the Leading Pastor of the church in Zalli, Pastor Elisha Bitrus Maren thanked God for a moment like this and for God’s divine mercy shown to all humanity for the kind gesture to this mission field. ‘Zalli people are peaceful and loving. You can’t differentiate between a Christian and a Muslim. Although most of them are Muslims, God is at work. We were given a land to build our church and another four hectares of farm land by the local King. TAGA Holds 2013 Annual Concert and Award Presentation By Godiya Bulus Tafawa Balewa Association of Gospel Artistes (TAGA) held its 2013 Annual Music Concert and Presentation of Awards for the previous year’s concert performance at COCIN LCC Rafin Gimba, Tafawa Balewa. The Chairman of the Association Rev. Polmi W. Kushi said the purpose of the association is to promote the gospel of Christ through music as well as to discover and develop musical talents among zealous Christian youth in the area with deep interest in gospel music. The presence of the awardees, pastors and families at the presentation was very important, as he said that will provide them with a good testimony that they are in good relationship with their families as well as of good standing in their churches. Rev. Yusuf Titus, the host pastor, in a sermon presented at the occasion took his readings from Colossians 3:16 and Ephesians 5:19. He said the word of God is a guide for every committed Christian musician. “If God’s word is first established in the heart, the world will notice the difference between a gospel artiste and a secular musician and only then would he be found practicing what he preaches through his songs. By the manifestation of your actions, people will know that you are a true preacher of the word through songs. Do not be found fornicating, stealing, gossiping, or committing any other sin that the word of God, which you preach, is totally against. We must learn to separate songs that glorify God from those which do not. Note that songs may be spiritual or otherwise. A true gospel artiste will not concentrate in demonstrating his talent but the message he preaches” he said. He rounded up by posing a question to the artistes- Are you singing with a strong hope of making heaven or just singing without heaven in mind? The Master of Ceremony, Mr. Likita Namci from Bauchi had earlier noted some improvements on the previous year’s presentation. He observed that songs presented are mostly locally composed than copied. Also, that the instruments no longer overshadows the wordings of the songs. The award was made based on the following categories- the best guitarist went to Mamaki Joshua; best vocalist was Yakubu Dauda and the best group was Christ Family Singers band of ECWA No. 1 Tafawa Balewa. Others were the best song presenter, Nigerian Navy Sub-Lieutenant Dugo I. Bajari and an honorary award recipient, Pastor Silas Ishaya. MORE NEWS ON lightbeareronline/images.html
