RE: Brat, this past week for your organization, OVERSEAS BRATS (OSB) 9/5/14. Hi Brat Friend! BRAT HEROINE: Marie Di Pietro Wilson (Mannheim HS/Germany) is one of those OSB heroines. She joined OSB in 1996, and strongly encouraged many of her Mannheim Bison alumni to do the same. Then Marie evolved with her alumni group as a group contact, bringing a number of them to Mannheim reunions held at the triannual OSB Homecomings. She – as with other past listed heroines and heroes have made a BIG impact on OSB. BRAT INSIGHT: Did you know there is no ‘weekend’ with OSB? Every day is a day of work and service to the Brat communities. There is so much to do to help so many! *Welcome this past week to ‘Newbie Brats’ (to this page, from the last update to this update)….. Bill Ward Virginia G. Reyerse Sharon Anderson-Brooks How can we help you? :) Where can we get you involved? :) Among the happenings this past week: *Finished up on the September sustaining newsletter. Hope to get this in the mail sometime around September 21. *Once a week….usually Mondays, I spend some time working on my Tehran American School Assn. (TASA). This week it was to get the word out to our TAS membership about our reunion happening at OSB’s Homecoming in August 2016. *Wednesday I spent time visiting with the new President of the American Overseas Schools Historical Society (AOSHS) Dr. Gayle Vaughn-Wiles and met other AOSHS board members. We talked about ways AOSHS and OSB could work together. *Worked on future OSB email updates and Facebook postings. *All week long was spent sending out an update to those who are on OSBs non-member email list. This project has been going on all month and will take well into September before it is completed. *LOTS of work on “Brats Oktoberfest” (the annual OSB gathering) happening in New Braunfels, October 2-5 shows: -116 registered representing 147 schools/bases/communities! -1,712 Brats & Educators are interested! Did you know that Brat songwriter/performer Rick Connell (Balboa HS-Heidelberg HS) wrote a song and produced a video about this event? See it at: youtube/watch?v=mnNAmnE7Jt4 . -We also have a number of commercial sponsors attending. Some of these have become so attached to the Brats who come to this event that they have become honorary OSB members through the years! They LOVE us Brats! *Homecoming 2016. Yeah….it is still a couple years away, but activity IS happening with this event! Those that lived/went to school in Burtonwood/England shared they will be having their next reunion at Homecoming 2016 in Colorado Springs. Counting Burtonwood we now have 12 schools/groups planning reunions at Homecoming 2016. The rest of the list presently includes: Ansbach, Augsburg, Baumholder, Burtonwood, Frankfurt, Itazuke, Mannheim, Munich, Tehran, Woodbridge, Verdun, and Yokohama. ******** Have a terrific day & weekend! Brugs (Brat-hugs), Joe/OVERSEAS BRATS
