RE-EGGON ELDERS VOW TO STOP MAKU I read a sponsored publication - TopicsExpress

RE-EGGON ELDERS VOW TO STOP MAKU I read a sponsored publication in yesterday’s edition of the Pilot Newspapers with the above caption. It is unfortunate fact that this is coming from a person that I had sympathy for in the last Local Government elections. Every indication points irresistibly to the fact that this is a demonstration of jealously and ungodly hatred of an Eggonman by his supposed brother. Even more worrisome is the way some so called intellectuals were circulating and jubilating over the publication, calling it a good omen. We should be ashamed at such. I had to do a background check on Dogara Angbo and here is what I found out: 1. During the administration of Abdullahi Adamu, Dogara Angbo was the Deputy Chairman of Lafia LGA who supported his boss Gindau to disengage a lot of fellow Eggon people who were civil servants from Lafia LGC on the ground that Eggon people are not indigenous to Lafia LGA. This gave effect to Abdullahi Adamu’s policy of “return to your Local Government of Origin”. Meanwhile, he was given peanuts to just sit still and turn a blind eye and deaf ear to the protests and complaints of his people. A lot of people suffered and died of frustration as a result of this draconian policy. People are still suffering today as a result of it. 2. Also during second tenure of administration of Abdullahi Adamu’s tenure, Dogara Angbo and a few destructive elements opposed a fellow Eggonman Yahaya Abdullahi from Bakin Rijiya in Akurba Ward and pitched tents with the son of Emir of Lafia who never even participated in party primaries to be the chairman of Lafia LGA. Regrettably, the Emir’s son continued with the oppression of Eggon peoples interests, denying young people indigene certificates and many other benefits. 3. In the last Local Government Election, Eggon peopleof Lafia LGA still forgave, voted and stood by him even at the polls with the hope that he has learnt from the past and could reverse the misdeeds of the past. Unfortunately, TAAL used his power to order NASIEC to declare APC the winner of Lafia LGA and this matter is still in court. Today, Dogara Angbo is the same person that is addressing the press in the name of Eggon Elders and as their spokesperson. Meanwhile, this is someone who is not part of the Eggon Council of Elders, and neither does he have their mandate to address the press on their behalf on this issue or any issue whatsoever. The fact is that he is still speaking for the Sunday Namo led Committe which has been shown to be a primordial, premeditated and biased. What could make a man hate his brother so much to the extent of wanting to stop him at all cost and by all means? To every extent, Dogara Angbo and every person with him have demonstrated that they are nothing but fraudulent ethnic jingoist and promoters of rancor even among their people. This also demonstrate that Hon. Labaran Maku is not an ethnic champion like them. We have no option than to be grateful to God for averting an accident before it happened in the last Local Government elections. Dogara Angbo would have been a disgrace to his people- the Eggon people, the people of Lafia LGA and Nasararawa state people as Chairman of Lafia LGA. Let us know it today, that Dogara Angbo and anybody that stands with him in that press conference do not represent the interest of Eggon people. They do not mean well for the entire Eggon land. They do not mean well for Nasarawa State. They have not been able to address the press or utter even one word in sympathy with people affected by the serial communal violence that engulfed Nasarawa State. Neither have they condemned any criminal activity I want to register my appreciation to all our brothers and sisters, aunties and uncles, daddies and mommies who tried to call for caution. We must bear in mind that the Governorship of Nasarawa state is not an ethnic affair. We never heard of any Afo Elders or Afo Traditional Council or Afo Development Association when Abdullahi Adamu was made Governor of Nasarawa state. We never heard of Alago Elders endorsement of Aliyu Akwe Doma before he emerged Nasarawa state Governor. Neither did we hear of any GWADECA or any Gwandara ethnic, traditional or cultural group endorsement before the emergence of TAAL. More importantly, Eggon elders are wiser today. As a matter of fact, Afenifere and other Pan-Yoruba and Oodua groups preferred and actually endorsed Olu Fale but Obasanjo still won the Presidency of Nigeria. This is because neither the primaries nor the secondary elections that will depend on ethnic cultural or traditional institutions. At best, they can advise and negotiate, settle or amicably resolve their people vying for elective offices. We should not deceive ourselves. Politics is all about the political parties, delegates and then me and you the voters. Only God ranks above all others. Dogara Angbo and his cohorts should hide their heads in shame.
